HOPE IN THE MIDST
Just three miles outside of the business district of Nairobi, Kenya, exists a place forgotten. Not for its small size – it is as large as New York’s Central Park – nor its waning population – more than one million people call it home – but forgotten by government, country, and some would argue, even God himself. This place is Kibera, the largest slum in Kenya, the second largest in Africa, and one of the largest slums in the world. Néstor Colombo, Director of Up and Walk, took to the streets of Kibera to be a blessing to those in need but came away all the more blessed himself.
ONE DAY: CHILE
Up and Walk, then the GVI Foundation/RCI joined thousands of volunteers around the globe to bring love and hope to children in need in our local communities for the global event, One Day. During the Holiday Season, our teams in Santiago, Chile joined together to serve school-age children and their families. With the simple kindness of washing their precious feet and outfitting them with a pair of quality shoes, we had the privilege of helping young hearts step into a brighter tomorrow.
